Disruption

The potential of chaos

DISRUPTION is about letting go. The thought of it can feel like the potential of chaos. We are confronted with the unknown, place and time out of control. It is disturbing to our nature which usually finds comfort in the predictable. We want everything to remain as it has always been, while at the same time we want things to change for the better. Yet the unknown holds the promise of new possibilities, which can shape and give rise to transformation. It asks us to let go of our current beliefs, values and open ourselves to change. Letting go is allowing a new version of life to emerge. Bellarushe is an artistic collaboration between Isabell and Rushe. Where Isabell has usually set the conditions for the shape of the object already at the turntable and Rushe has then created details and functions through solid post-work. This has suited us well as Isabell usually wants to see quick results and loves the meditative presence that the drawing can create, while Rushe has an eye for detail work and can focus for a long time. Based on these conditions, our first ceramic series SERENITY was created, based on an investigative work about the present and calm. But what happens when we are expected to create from our weaknesses instead of from what we consider to be our strengths? What happens to our emotions and what forms of conflict are raised? What can we develop in ourselves through the conflicts and how can this benefit others? We investigate this in our upcoming series DISRUPTION, where we switch places and do the opposite. We allow DISTRUPTIONS to drive something completely new. Through ceramics as an artistic method, we get an opportunity to explore what it's like to go from security to uncertainty. Our creations become a proof of this exploration together with photos, films, sounds and notes.
