FOR WHOM BY WHOM

The craft, a cultural heritage, a unique capital of knowledge. What happens when no one else can?

Handcraft, a cultural heritage, a unique capital in knowledge, which is hard to compensate for worth time and money for it not to be lost. What happens when no one has this knowledge anymore? When the intellectuality in a craft is there, it creates a humility, an understanding that allows one to see the greatness in the everyday objects.

Through the preparing Konst & Design courses at Östra Grevie Folkhögskola, valuable knowledge in many crafts is passed on. A knowledge and intangible cultural heritage that today doesn't make us rich, but instead brings us humans together in lust, curiousness and new encounters.

Under the title FOR WHO OF WHOM, we have chosen to put the craft in focus and therefore also its tools. Through the school’s various workshops, the participants gain valuable knowledge in tools, materials and technique but also insight and experience as to how the craft relates to a design context.

Through the student's own interpretation of "Dissonans", works and design pieces that reflect desire, curiousity and encounters in the exploration of the craft and materials will be shown. Creativity flows.

Konst & Design courses at Östra Grevie Folkhögskola Fotografi, Fria förberedande konstlinjen, Grafisk design - Nya media, Grafisk design - Visuell kommunikation, Konstgrafiklinjen and Textil konst och design are located in the awarded Estetbyggnaden, where we have our classrooms and workshops.

Here there is a textile workshop with large tables for screen printing and a very well-maintained loom parkt, a graphic workshop with equipment for a variety of printing techniques, painting studios, photo studios and darkrooms. There is also a sculpture workshop with possibilities to work with ceramics, gypsum, styrofoam, papier mache and much more. We also have a well-equipped woodshop with great tools as well as a fantastic drawing and project hall that spans over 100 square meters.
