New rules in the Copyright Act on fair remuneration for copyright licenses requires discussion and coordination in the design industry
January 1, 2023, much-awaited new rules were introduced in the Copyright Act stating that fair (appropriate and proportionate) remuneration must be paid to the author when they license their copyright. Katarina Renman Claesson and Christina Wainikka will talk with designer Sara Torsson Szyber about the new provisions and how they will affect new and existing license agreements. The conversation also covers the Swedish Artists' Association's "Recommendations for Design Commissions."
The seminar is arranged by Konstnärernas Riksorganisation (the Artists’ Association of Sweden), which was founded in 1937 and today represents 3,500 professional visual artists, craftsmen, and designers in Sweden. The Association is the only organization in Sweden working as a trade union to protect visual and design artists' professional, economic, and social interests.
